Recorded by the band over extended periods in various friend's houses, 'On the Hop' was such a labour of love that as soon as it was finished keyboard-player Tom Diffenthal packed off to Australia for 3 months. When he got back, the band found they had a record brimming with spirit; where other bands favour detached observation, Andy Raven's clever social commentary came direct from the heart, and tracks such as 'Jack' and 'Soil' lead one reviewer to declare:
